"I have a dream that one day everyone will share paddies and chum slicks"
The Story Behind The Site:
On the way out of the harbor on one of my trips, I was
thinking about a post I saw on one of the other sites complaining about getting
bad info from the forum.I thought to
myself, DUH! What did you expect?
Someone spends their hard-earned cash and time to find the fish and they
are supposed to tell you where they found them? --- You have to be kidding me!
Then the idea hit me --- Why not
have a website where you can share your stories, pictures, coords etc, with your buddies? Your buddies buddies and keep everything private if you choose.
Of course I went a little overboard and you can also
syndicate your blogs, share videos, create private and public groups
(clubs), instant messages, email, photo
albums and there is a lot more planned for the future.
Socaloffshore.com vs. Other Sites : What is the big deal?
Other sites are simply bulletin boards (forums), though some
have cool logos and links to weather and SST maps. Forums are great if you need to find the ignition timing on your
PCM 350s, or a general recommendation on a rod and reel combo but because of
the open question & response nature of a forum they can also get a little
hostile! Not to mention easily
monitored by "you know who"!
Socaloffshore could have forums, like I said have a purpose,
but offers much more in that the site encourages building friendships of
like-minded people and gives power to the users.(Have you ever had a post deleted by a moderator! Lol )
