I wish I had beter news for you guys but in this case maybe it will save you some fuel. Left DP around 8pm Thurs night. tried making bait at Catalina but couldn't get the squid to float. Since the channel was basically a bath tub we figured we would just charge over and nab some squid over at SCI. Easier said than done. We farted around trying to make our own bait until around 3:30 am and then just said F it an d bought a scoop and a half from a squidder over there. Set up around 4 and started fising. We fished all day, and ended up fishing up and down the back side at every single spot in my repetoire. We even pulled out some ancient charts and tried a few old honey holes that always produce. Not a ghost to be seen. We fished all the way around the backside, around the far end and even pulled in close at North West Harbor and tried to scape up a halibut off the sand bar inside but got kicked out after 45 minutes. We caught the usual few grumpy Calicos, and goats but not a sign of our tarket species of WSB, YT or even halibut. A total bust. SAve your fuel, because the rumoured bite is non existent. I can't believe we didn't just set up at the Vs and get in line at the parking lot that Cat has become. No pics since I decided to post only pelagic fish this year. I hope this helps some of you that may have the itch to take a boat ride, since that is all our expedition was, although the channel is flat as a pancake right now. BTW, we didn't spot a single paddy so I will venture a guess that the 181, 267, and 209 route will yield pretty much the same thing.....
