After all the stuff i had to do for the last 2 months(boys school , pool repairs ect.). We are back.
Plan was to go out of Newport slam some bass then watch the fireworks, but when we got to Newport at 5 am sign said boat launch full...shucks.Asked the boy "North or south". North it was. Headed to Davies out of long beach.
Told Michael (my little baby boy) plan is hit the rigs get some rock cod slam some bass then get some cuda for the smoker, he just laughed "We are not going to get all those".
Fished the rigs for about half hour getting only small salmon grouper(water 65 blue / green) so of to the island. We found the rockcod and boy did we all the salmon grouper you could want. Sent back down as many as we caught with a few red ones mixed in (water 66 very blue).
Fished a buch of different rocks outside of Itallian gardens till we hit the mother load.

9 lbs of slimey on the lucanus and 5 lbs on the shrimp fly above not abad double.

If these things would count towards the tat i would be king ! Say what you want about rockcod, to me its a kick in the arse on 20 lb test and light rods.
So the first part of the plan was done. We where off for some bass . Did the troll thing so we could stay in the shade of the top. Was about 1 when we started the bass part of the plan. We got six keepers and a bunch of dinks probally could have caught more if we tried but we got kinda lazy......:)
Fished till about 3,then headed for the horseshoe for the cuda.Nice ride coming back a little chop but not bad did 32 all the way.
When we got to the shoe i thought there would be more boats but it was pretty empty. Started at the out side green bouy with the troll (water 65 brown and choppy)
. Five minutes in it was game on.

Ended up with 7 and 4-5 farmed at the boat .
Trolled around till abot 6:30 then headed for the the Queen mary for the the fire works, was a real nice show, just as good if not better then Newports.
We stuck to a plan and got just what was ordered and just had a lot of fun ,didn't fish hard but ended up with bags and bags of filets.
