jumped at the chance to do a little night run. headed to lj where i found the usual gathering of boats. i found a little spot in 93 feet of water, clear of kelp and traffic. squid was easy to make and no light was necessary. the first fish came on the 30lb stick, straight mono, dropper loop.

the second came on the same stick.

a missed bite or two thrown in the mix.......about sunrise the same stick gets spooled......... im guessing BSB. i noticed a slight bend on the stick, so i jumped up and started winding with the stick still in the rod holder. it was like earth. the fish didnt budge. i got the rod out of the holder and let him know he had something stuck in his mouth. he swam around below the boat for awhile not really concerned. then, away he went. faster and faster, he never even turned around.

sometimes when you hook a fish, you can tell that you dont have a chance. this was one of those times. a bat ray, a couple of rockfish, and a couple of sandies.

i never got touched on the 40 lb...........
