Finally got some balls ane decided to venture out of the bay (S.D.) Saturday

morning. Went out to the kelp off Point Loma. Caught these two in about 35-40ft of water in the kelp. The pics kinda suck but the one was kind of greenish and the other was more of a red (before spending the night on ice). I was thinking they were some kind of rockfish,  but I was in pretty shallow water and in the kelp. Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks.

Sorry for the crappy pics!

I aint the authority on rockfish, but imho I would say a vermillion and a brown rockfish. Maybe one of the guys that know much more can elaborate,

Thanks guys, I figured they were some sort of rockfish. Although, I didn't realize the hung out in the kelp and in such shallow water. I will fry them up indeed!

I emailed these pics to my brother who is a marine fishery major (which means he can identify almost anything that swims)  He said "the one with the lighter more yellow eyes looks like a Brown Rockfish for sure, the other one looks almost like it could be a Grass rockfish."

Hope this helps out.
