last week the mako fishing was slow in the sd area with few fish seen let alone caught. i heard of one 600 lbr, and i chummed up a 400lb hammerhead of all things. thats only the 3rd hammerhead ive seen and it was the first to eat a bait. the3 anglers were awsome.... one guy puked twice because he tried REAllY hard to horse the fish to the boat.

they passed off the rod every 10 min or so. everyone was really happy to leader and release the cool looking hammerhead. sorry no pics. the calicos dropped off a bit when the cold water rolled through but they seem to be going steady again. the largest ive seen was a solid 5lbs. up north a bit we got a jumbo mako. i even got to reel on it for an hour or so while a good angler took a break. it was a tough fish. it broke the harness and just made it all around tough to leader. 700lbs

it looks like i might get another shot at my own fish in the next week or so.
