Doper4Life and I headed back to Catalina to try and get lucky on the WSB. Got into the area at sundown, turned on the light and started to make squid in the crowder 8 to 20 pieces at a time. The seals were all over us, but after a couple of hours we had enough , maybe a 1-1/2 scoops. Set up at the same place I whacked them solo an started to wait. About 4am my slider rigs gets bit with some big head shakes. This is feeling real good. D4L clears all the rigs as I go back and forth on a better fish. Get it to color, ready to gaff, one of the prettiest fish in our local waters, a 5 foot Leopard shark……darn. Released gently. Right after this the Barracuda go bonkers in the chum line. Every bait a bite, just not what we were hoping for. After having enough of the slimesticks and not observing any of the right kind boated by the 20 or so boats in the area we head around front to look around. Pulled up on a nice kelp edge and had a blast on the Checkers. D4L got 5 and I got 5 including the toad. All released. Sorry for some of the photo quality, squid juice et al.
