After sitting out the last week due to boat repairs Silver Ghost and I went out for a quick local trip. Launched after 5am and baited up with some nice fin bait and some squid and headed out to our favorite local reefs. The Ghost was really happy to be back on the water with his boat running in tip top condition. Got to our spot before day break and started a drift. With the incoming tide and a small breeze our drift was fast but the bite was good. Good mixed catch of Calico Bass and Sand Bass including two monster size sandies. Fish were going after both types of bait. Water was around 65 degrees. As soon as the water movement stopped so did the bite.
Went and drifted by Seal Beach pier for some threshers but no luck. Went inside the harbor looking for the T-sharks but no joy. Water in both areas was murky and green with some bad spots of red tide in the harbor. Saw some friends in the harbor who got some sharks but none for us. Called it quits and was back on the road home by 3pm. Calico's were all released.
