Met up with Doper4Life at 4am, launched ,and watched in horror as the luckiest boater we have ever seen crossed from Los Alamitos entrance to the bait barges in the dark and went between a Tugboat and the barge it was towing without hanging up on the tow cable. He was very lucky because I was calling him on 72 and 11 to stop, the Tugboat Captain was on 16 and he never answered or knew. Lucky for him the Tug Captain slammed his Tug into reverse which allowed the barge to slide forward and slack the cable enough for him to make it over. Ignorance is bliss. We saw the ug as we exited Los Alamitos and picked up the barge on radar, but we have seen many a barge in the dark, they only have one small light and are very difficult to make out so D4L and I are very wary of Tugs in the dark. We then got some squish from Long Beach Bait and headed up the line to search out PV for WSB. Got to Point Vincente at sunrise, much to my surprise no one was there except the holeheads. Dropped anchor up current to try a while. Nothing going on here except I landed a Pinback shark. Ran farther around to Haggerty’s where a few boats were already set up. Got our spot in 40 feet of 67* water and started fishing. Did not see a single WSB caught, but D4L got a nice Calico and a legal Lingcod which were both released.

Had enough of that at 11am , headed back towards Long Beach, got inside the harbor, saw a friend who had released a couple of T-Doggs so we decided to try. Not too long into the pattern and D4L is on. After a few nice runs I grabbed the tail and brought the T-Pupp on board for the photo then we released it. Nice point fish for D4. Little bit later we both missed a number of slappers till I finally hooked up. Messed around with the fish for a while, then close to the boat it did a 180 and broke me off going under boat. Seems like my luck lately. Good day with friends, and one lucky SOB
