Having hurting my back on Friday fishing was going to be questionable.
Woke up at 3:45 am and slowly got on my feet.
Back was stiff ! But not going to keep me from hooking up with our
socaloffshore friends at Long Beach.

Boggs was a huge help getting the gear and boat together.
The drive down to the launch ramp seemed to take forever,
feeling every bump in the road.

As we pull into the launch area.
I see our friends Berzerker, Doper4life and Silver Ghost and knew it was
going to be another fun day fishing with friends.

As we are motoring out of the jettys.
I get all call from Silver Ghost, who says he has
some bait to share with us.. "outstanding"
After a very generous passing of bait from the ghost
we head to the area that ,the lil voice in my head keeps saying
They will be deep . (Thanks Doper4life}

First 2 rigs are in the water and before I could rig my second rod.
First rod goes bendo with some shakes... sweet, a nice little keeper.
We are on the board before 7 am.

We continue to work the area thru the peak high tide with nothing
more to show.
After the tide started to move again, thinks started to pick up for us.
We  were rewarded with a few bycatch. Lizard fish, sandbass, and a
couple of short halibuts.

Before to long my other rod goes bendo and its feels like a nicer grade fish.
As i slide this one up to the boat. "Stickman" gets it done for me again.
Thanks Boggs a nice 32.5 incher

Now its Boggs turn..
He sees a light strike and then hook up .
He works this fish up to the boat and lays it out perfectly.
What happens next still makes me feel sick to my stomach this morning.
Even with this nice grade halibut layed out perfectly,
I lay out the gaff and popped it in the jaw bone and needless to say.
gaff did not stick and the fish takes another run and snap . It appears to have bitten thru the line.  ( sorry Boggs )

Before to long Boggs is hooked up again .
He says that this one feels very heavy but has no head shakes.
So he continues to slowly get this mystery fish up from the bottom.
As this fish comes to color , we see a nice halibut goofy hooked in the side
heading under the boat sideways.
This time I get the job done for him.. a nice lil fat 26 incher hits the fish hold.

Total fish count
23 in.
26 in.
32.5 in.
1 nice fish (farmed)
2 shortys
1 sandbass released
and 1 lizard released

All in all , a good day on the water again with friends !
