Picked up UPS Mikey at the parking lot and launched and 05:30
Picked up a load of squid and sardines, split them with Spark and headed off to where we had success the week before for no luck at all after a couple of hours. Action seemed to be up the harbor a bit so we headed off to another area. Finally landed a legal after some hunting. Kept working the area for 3 shorts and another legal before heading in at 3 in the p.m.. Hooked and lost two threshers after a very short fight.
Batteries were tired (not enough juice to turn the big motor over) after 6 weeks of short runs on the diesel and all the equipment running. Lights, radar, GPS. pumps, etc. Shut all power stuff off and let the batteries rest. Told the B man on the radio and he offered to back track with his booster battery.
BIG thanks for the offer!
Still had the trolling motor to limp in on. Gave the batteries one more last try after the rest and had enough kick to start the main engine. Thankfully didn't have to limp in at 4 mph
Great day with friends.
Have included a close up shot of Song's MONSTER butt of 43" and 35 lbs. that I grabbed during congratulations to Song helping DFG surveyor hold it up on the scale.
Good day on the water with a great bunch of friends.
