So I decided to go fishing for some rock fish. fishing was slow picking throug-out the morning for most people on the boat. But as for me got my limit on good size rock fish.

As soon as we get to our third spot of the day Capt. Jerry says "drop em" so we did and the guy fishing next to me hooks up right away he fights this fish all the way to surface and comes up this big ass sheephead at at least 12-15 Lbs and i yell "gaff", but the 2 deck hands and the captn is busy. So  i tell the guy next to me not to panic keep his head under the water. But as soon as i said that his causin decides to grab the gaff, and gaff it him self when finally the deck runs over and ask his causin to give him the gaff  he says "NO" so he tried not once but twice to gaff this monster sheephead and cannot stick the gaff untill finally the fish spits the hooked . when i seen that along with evrybody seen that happen evryone felt sorry for guy but not for his causin. So ass the day whent on, we ran into some more rockfish and a few lincod but  could not forget  what happen earlier that day. Not even me. but other than that fishing was good.

that totally sucks.  I would have taken my chances bouncing it over the rail.

That Blows.....some toothless Cletus thinking he can gaff the fish himself, well wasn't the first time and won't be the last......

well since the spitfire came back to Marina Del Ray ill be fishing the Spitfire but before that i fish the New Del Mar.

Yeah , the new del mar is 1/2 day and the spitfire is 3/4. they both run out of marina del rey. I fished the NDM on tuesday, got limits on sculpin and some rock fish. Good report .How's the crew on the spitfire?
