normally all there is in the way of baitfish (if any) at seal beach is smelt..saying they're there (which was rare but now plentiful), but now hundreds of anchovy's have come to the pier, which out of my 12 years of fishing there i've never seen or heard of people catching any. but now theres alot, i need a dip net and a bigger bucket! as i catch ths chovy's i throw them out live and i get lizardfish, which was depleted from seal beach about 4 yrs. ago, but are now back by the hundreds, which is good. also, i've seen more bass and baby wsb being caught there and a crap load more shovelnose and rays of all kinds. normally about now, even in an el nino season at seal beach, theres isnt that may. so what i think i'm seeing is that seal beach's water is improving and the life there is coming back finally, which is really good! i went there last on thurs. (the 24th) and i hooked a massive (as in a estimated 5 ft. wide) bat which i fought for about an hour before he went under the pier and wrapped himself around the piling and shredded my 40# =[. allwell, to me its about the fising and the fight more than the catch even though it makes u feel acomplished when you finally touch the thing you just caught. anyways, i plan on giving a report from now on whenever i go. see you next time! -cody
