How does our online tournament work?

We get this question a lot and get some strange looks when we explain it but we just smile back because we know once you participate in the Top Angler Tournament series you'll be hooked. This is our 3rd year running online tournaments and have changed a lot since our first launch and will continue to make improvements as needed. After reading the following explanation, if you have any questions please contact us and we'll do our best to answer them.

• You can fish anywhere in Southern California! (SB -> SD).
• Fish from a pier, party boat, private boat, yak, ski, shore... It's all good.
• Points are per fish and different for each species. No weighing, no guessing, no lying! Of course we have limits and strict rules so check the rules & points pages for details.
• To get points: Take a photo of your fish with the tournament card or your official TAT t-Shirt in the picture and submit it in the tournament forum. Your entry will be reviewed and once approved, points are assigned to your account. That's all there is to it. Of course everyone can see your post and other members can and will comment on your catch!
• TAT cards are available 24-48 hrs before the start of each tournament to prevent pre-fishing.
• Leaderboards are Real-Time. As soon as points are awarded, the board is automatically updated.

Free TAT's vs. PAY TAT vs. Jackpots

1. The are 2 types of tournaments: 1) Free, 2)Pay Entry fees and tournament dates can be found here.
2. Free TAT's are open to any membership level. (Basic or TAT Member)
3. Pay TAT's including Jackpot tournaments are only open to TAT Members.
4. For TAT Members, fish caught during any TAT count towards other TAT's they are registered for and during tournament dates. For example: If you catch a Bass in a Jackpot tournament you also get points in the Pay TAT.
5. Only Jackpot tournaments pay out cash awards. Jackpots are winner take all.
