 Tournament Rules

(Updated 4/28/10) 

  1. All decisions by the Socaloffshore Top Angler Tournament officials are final.
  2. The official 2010 Top Angler Tournament Card or approved alternative (tShirt) must be in the photo entry.  For more information on how to get the official tournament card click here.
  3. You may have more than 1 fish and multiple species in your photo.  You will get points for each fish by species submitted.  Click here for details on the points and species.
  4. Species must be clearly identifiable.
  5. All fish must be caught in Southern California waters.  Fish caught along the Mexican border are allowed only if your port of embarkation was in Southern California.
  6. All fish must be of legal size according to DFG rules.
  7. Daily fish counts must be in accordance with current DFG daily bag limit rules regardless of where the fish are taken or if released or not.   For example:  If you boat 1 Mako and release 5, only 2 Mako's will count towards your TAT points.  (DFG Limit of 2 Mako's per day).
  8. If your multi-day trip is a charter/party boat you must submit the name of the boat and the dates of your trip at the time you submit your TAT entry.
  9. Multi-day trip fish counts must also must be in accordance with current DFG daily bag limit rules. (Yes, even when fishing in Mexico!)
  10. There is a maximum 400 point limit on all commercial/overnight/multi-day trips regardless of the length of the trip, species or total fish caught.
  11. You must have an account with socaloffshore.com and be in good standing.
  12. There is no cost for the 2010 Top Angler Tournament so there is no need to cheat.  If you are caught cheating you will be banned for life from the tournament and your socaloffshore.com account will be deactivated.  
  13. All photo entries become the property of socaloffshore.com and may be used in any promotional activities or any other manner we see fit.
  14. Your account information will always remain private and will not be shared with outside parties.
  15. The tournament begins on May 1, 2010 @ midnight and ends October 31, 2010 @ midnight.  Any photos submitted before or after these dates/times will be omitted.
  16. SocalOffshore.com reserves the right to ban any member for any reason.

 Tournament Prizes


Prizes will be given out for the following:

  • Top Angler - Most overall points.
  • Top Bass Angler - Most overall points for Bass.
  • Top Yellowtail Angler - Most overall points for Yellowtail.
  • Top Dorado Angler - Most overall points for Dorado.
  • Top Marlin Angler - Most overall points for Marlin.
  • Top WSB Angler - Most overall points for WSB.
  • Top Shark Angler - Most overall points for Shark.

 *In the event of a tie here is the tiebreaker:

1) Total number of fish 

2) Date of 1st tournament entry

3) Coin Toss!

 

Additionally, there may be quarterly prizes of which the details will be posted here

 *You are responsible for all taxes, fees and penalties from federal or state authorities that may result in winning a prize.  Please check with your tax advisor before accepting a prize.  This tournament is for fun and any participation is at your own risk and socaloffshore, owners, partners and parent companies are not responsible for any injuries, damages, fees, or legal mess you get yourself into.
